From the Back Porch

The City of Bastrop, in their infinite wisdom, has cleared the path for a new shopping center on the east side of town. All the way from Bastrop to Round Rock every day I see land being cleared and buildings under construction. How many ugly houses, homogenized stores and lofts do we need?

When I can't stand it any more, I walk out on the back deck and breath the deeply scented pines that make up my back yard.
